Head of Financial Control & Reporting
Location: Flexible, Alma Media Offices in Finland or Across Europe
Reports to: Director, Business Finance & Treasury
Alma Media is seeking an experienced and proactive Head of Financial Controlling and Reporting to lead a financial controlling function in an international environment. This is a unique opportunity to shape financial controlling and reporting processes across multiple entities, ensuring high-quality financial reporting and smooth financial closing processes.
About the Role
The Head of Financial Control and Reporting is a senior leadership role responsible for managing and overseeing statutory reporting, financial controls, record-to-report process and tax management for multiple legal entities across Alma Media’s operating countries. In this role, you will ensure the development and implementation of efficient, standardized financial controlling processes aligned with Group policies, regulatory requirements and business needs.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team responsible for financial controlling operations across Alma Media’s operating countries
- Design and implement common, efficient processes and reporting frameworks across entities
- Align financial controlling operations with Group policies, regulatory requirements and business needs.
- Oversee statutory reporting processes across multiple legal entities, ensuring compliance with local regulations and international standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP)
- Manage the monthly and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of financial results
- Manage intercompany cost allocation processes, ensuring transparency and compliance with transfer pricing policies
- Develop and execute the Group’s tax management strategy, ensuring compliance with local and international tax regulations.
- Drive automation, digital transformation and AI initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Support the successful implementation of SAP Public Cloud
What we are looking for
- Proven experience in leading and developing teams, with strong leadership and people management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of statutory reporting, accounting standards (IFRS, local GAAP), and tax regulations.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems and reporting tools (SAP experience preferred).
- Ability to lead process improvement and change initiatives in a complex environment with a collaborative and hands-on approach.
- A forward-thinking mindset, with a focus on automation, data-driven insights, and future finance capabilities.
- Fluency in English; other languages spoken within Alma Media’s markets are a plus.
