By following these instructions, you can easily create high-quality content that is ready for publication. You can also create the content in cooperation with Alma Brand Studio .

Content guidelines

The beginning of the article

A good article starts with an interesting title and gives the reader a reason to click on the content. The main image, title and introduction together lead to a topic that is topical and interesting from the reader’s point of view. The main image may not have text or a product or logo in the main part. The main image can be different from the highlight image.


Images

Good pictures complement and structure the text. They should be well-lit and sharp, and may not contain text. For profile pictures, you should leave space around the subject, as the images are cropped slightly differently on different devices. The caption can contain the photographer’s name and other text related to the topic. Captions also help the accessibility and search engine visibility of the images. Caption cannot be a link.


Main text

Good content is grouped into different topics with subheadings, images and links. The content can include, for example, text, image, video, subheading, link and list elements, as well as bold and italic style highlights. UTM tags can be pre-attached to the links if you want to track clicks from your own analytics. The appearance or text styles of the article cannot be influenced. Emoticons are not allowed.


Video

We can add videos as part of the article by embedding them from video services or from a video file provided to us.

Search engines

Search engines should be helped to better understand the content of the article. For this, you can provide us with the SEO title and keyword list that will appear in the search results.

  • SEO title: up to 68 characters (optional).
  • SEO keywords: maximum 5, the most important first
    • The keyword of the article is what is the focus of the entire article. It is usually one word – in some cases a phrase of 2-5 words.


Responsibility for content

The customer is responsible for ensuring that the material delivered to the publisher does not contravene valid laws, regulations of authorities and advertising self-regulatory bodies, instructions given by the publisher, these terms and conditions, other contractual terms or good practice.

The customer undertakes to take into account the restrictions concerning e.g. advertising to minors or the following advertising targets: alcohol, tobacco, gambling, medicine, counterfeit products and pirated products.

As the publisher, Alma Media has the right, without liability for compensation, to refuse to present the advertisement, if the advertisement is in violation of the requirements linked below, according to the publisher’s interpretation. 


Laws and ethical rules

  • Legal and regulatory aspects taken into account (Consumer Protection Act, Chapter 2) 
  • The content must comply with the guidelines of the Council for Mass Media in Finland (JSN). 
  • The Advertising Ethics Council (MEN) monitors that the content complies with the marketing rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)

Remember on the landing page: 

  • A redirecting native advertisement takes the reader to interesting content: An article, tips, guide, interview, story etc. 
  • The landing page content should reflect the promise of the native ad; the content should be of excellent quality. A landing page may not include pure advertising or another limited call to action that does not provide content with additional value to the visitor. 
  • Do not direct the link to a product page or online store, advertisement, or a page with nothing but a download link. Notify the users if the content involves a video.
